Boys & Girls Cross Country '17 - '18 Grades K-8
Come join the Holy Spirit cross country team! Run for fun. Run for your health, mind and spirit! Practice begins on Tuesday, August 29th (3:30 pm - 4:30 pm) and will be held once per week as a team. Five meets will be held on Fridays – September 22 through October 20. Kids can run 1 Mile (last year most meets also offered a ½ mile race for grades K - 2) or a ¼ Mile Fun Run. Running experience is not required. Kids will run at their comfort level and develop at their own pace.
Sign-ups will be on Thursday August 24th (3:00-4:00 pm) and (7:00-8:00pm), at the Holy Spirit gym. Forms can also be dropped off at practice. We must receive the completed forms before a child can participate in practice and meets.

HS CYO Scholarship Program 2017
Holy Spirit's CYO Board of Directors has
initiated a scholarship program for graduating 8th grade CYO Student
Athletes. Holy Spirit CYO Board will be awarding one female and
one male 8th grade student athlete a scholarship to help offset the cost
of high school tuition. More details of the scholarship can be found in
the attachedScholarship Program Overview. Also attached is the Scholarship Application Form each
student needs to complete in order to be considered for the
Student Eligibility Requirements:Graduating 8th grade
student. Student does not need to be a student at Holy Spirit
School. Student must have competed in one of the CYO athletic programs for
at least three (3) complete seasons. (Softball, Basketball, Volleyball,
Cheer, Cross Country, Track & Field) One season must have been
completed during his/her eighth grade year. Student must be attending a
Catholic high school starting in the Fall of 2017. Financial need and
academic achievement is not a consideration for this scholarship. The
Board's goal is to recognize two young individuals who best exemplify
what our CYO program is all about - Promoting Christian Values through the Vehicle of Sports. To help evaluate the applicants, the Board requires each student to submit an essay using the following topic: In what ways has your participation in CYO helped you practice your faith? The
scholarship overview has additional information and requirements for
the essay. Completed applications and essays are to be mailed and must
be postmarked on or before May 1, 2017. Applications postmarked
after May 1st will not be considered. The Board's Selection Committee
will be evaluating each applicant during the first part of the month of

Experience is NOT required. Our focus will be on participation, achieving your personal best, having fun, experiencing new challenges and good sportsmanship. Sign-ups are still be accepted up to 2/17. Please make sure that you have all the forms ready and filled out completely to include a copy of Athlete's Birth Certificate and proof of residence. The “Holy Spirit Player Application Forms (5 Pgs.)” and "Concussion Form (1pg)" can be printed from the CYO website at http://www.holyspiritcyo.com and dropped off at the rectory (Attn: CYO Track & Field). Registration forms must be filled out by parents before a child can practice. The fee is $100.00, with a $10.00 discount for siblings, payable to “Holy Spirit CYO” (Spartan uniform is included. Please indicate shirt and shorts size of the child on the front page of the application form – there is no specific blank for this). Transfer of Supervision Policy - Safety reminder for all coaches, parents/guardians.
Parents & Coaches - It is Holy Spirit's CYO policy that transfer of supervision of all players BEFORE and AFTER any CYO event (practice, game, etc.) be done in person inside the gymnasium. Transfer of supervision can only be done to/from the coach from/to the player's parent, guardian, or another known adult (for instance, another player's parent).
Acknowledgment of the transfer shall be done by a sign-in/sign-out sheet or direct and verbal communication with the coach. UNDER NO CIRCUMSTANCE will players be allowed to leave the facility and the Holy Spirit Campus without being accompanied by their parent, guardian, or known adult. Players are to remain INSIDE the gym until transfer of supervision has been completed. If a parent or guardian is not able to bring/pick up a player before/after a CYO event, then the player should not participate in that day's/evening's event. Thank you for your cooperation. IMPORTANT ! Closing & Securing Holy Spirit Gym - Coaches, please read attached link and ensure that procedures are followed at the end of games or practices. Assign tasks to volunteer assistants or player parents if necessary, but make sure that the checklist is complied with. Let us work together to preserve our Holy Spirit Gym.
IMPORTANT ! - All completed application forms must be submitted directly to the Athletic Director. DO NOT turn in forms to either the church Rectory or the School's front office.
